O’Connell & Company is in residence at Snyder Square at the Cabaret in the Square Theatre. Mary Kate O’Connell established Cabaret in the Square Theatre 5 years ago and presents a full season of musicals, revues, cabarets, concerts, plays and murder mysteries.
O’Connell & Company also offers acting and creative drama classes for adults and children. Recent Cabaret productions include 6 WOMEN WITH BRAIN DEATH OR EXPIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW; BABY, CLOSER THAN EVER; NUNCRACKERS; NICKEL CITY TREASURES; CHRISTMAS MEM’RIES

MARY KATE O’CONNELL, Executive/Artistic Director
A life long resident of WNY, this award winning actress and director heads O’Connell & Company. Mary Kate was seen last Spring in the Shea’s production of The Vagina Monologues at Studio Arena Theatre and the WNY VDay special presentations of the Monologues in 2001 and 2002. She wrote, directed and performed in an adaptation of PETER AND THE WOLF with The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Mary Kate has performed with Bobby Militello in of Straight From the Hart, Fascinating Rhythms and My Shining Hour at the Tralfamadore Cafe among other venues. She produces special events, small musical revues and productions throughout the WNY area. Mary Kate dedicates her work to the memory of her Mother for a lifetime of unwavering love, strength, honesty and friendship. |

Active in a great variety of community affairs and charity work. Works with many local charities including: The March of Dimes, Renaissance House, Kids Escaping Drugs, Catholic Campus Ministries, Benedict House, Aids Family Services, Gilda’s Group, Child Advocacy Center, Meals on Wheels, AIDS Community Services.
• Created “Buffalo Cares” - Producing full scale arts/community events benefiting local charities. Event Highlights: “Music and Memories a Tribute to Irv Shire” which benefited the Rosa Coplan Home and “Oklahoma” a charity concert featuring area performers and the BPO benefiting for the people of Oklahoma City.
• Volunteers the City Mission and Saint Adalbert’s at Holiday times to serve dinners.
• Dedicates benefit performances throughout the season for charitable organizations

PERSONAL
Life long resident of Buffalo with very close family and community ties. Her parents were (former Buffalo City Comptroller) George D. and Beatrice E. O'Connell. Brothers - Dan, Tom, Kevin (WGRZ Weatherman), Terry and sister Patti. Enthusiast of all kinds of music and entertainment as both performer and as an audience member. Enjoys travel, antiques, entertaining, sailing, gardening, photography and family/friends get-togethers. She's notorious for her drive by auntings to her 11 nieces and nephews. Loves working with children and seniors. |
